Start of Semester
Please answer each survey question in a few thoughtful sentences.
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I envision using art in my classroom by coming up with activities that allow my students to express themselves in the way they'd like to. I would like to incorporate it as much as possible in my classroom because I think art is something children typically enjoy and it may help keep them interested in other classroom topics.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I know that you can integrate subjects into other classroom subjects. For instance, say it is October and you are doing a math lesson on addition. You might want to integrate art into the lesson, and in doing so, you have your students draw pumpkins to use as addition manipulative.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level at a 2. I have never thought of myself as artistic. Although I am creative, I have trouble giving life into my ideas. Any time I try to "make art" the project usually looks sloppy even though I have put in an honest effort.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level at a 2. I am terrible at analyzing things, whether it be poems, books, or pictures. I have always disliked it because I am not good at it. I do not mind talking about art, because I find it interesting, however I usually do not have much input.

End of Semester
Now that you have [almost] completed the course, please answer each survey question once more in a few thoughtful sentences.
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I still want to use art in the classroom in all of the ways I described at the beginning of they year, but I have found more ways to do so. I envision coming up with lessons in which the main activity of the lesson is creating a piece of art, but being able to show students how their work can hold a greater meaning. I also envision myself sharing the work of other artists that I believe might inspire my students.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I now know that you can integrate nearly any content area with another content area. Finding a way to integrate two or three different content areas can sometimes be difficult, but if you take the time to think about it and plan your lesson, you can develop a more meaningful experience.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would now rate my comfort level at a 4. Although there are still some things that I find challenging and discouraging, throughout the year, I have found that I am actually pretty good at making art. I have learned that not everything has to be perfect for other people to see the effort I put into my work, and I know my students will be just as, if not more, supportive than my peers.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I would rate my comfort level at a 4. Depending on what part of art we are talking about, I feel like I have progressed with my ability to analyze and talk about art. I believe I am more capable of connecting art to a common theme or topic. Our units throughout the semester have shown me how to look for the "umbrella" themes that multiple artists might use. Once I find these themes, I can better analyze why an artist may have chosen to do their work in the way that they did.
